Last night, I took
Julia out to dinner to celebrate her getting her Master's from NYU! We went to an Argentinean steak house called
Sur, here on Smith St. in Brooklyn. The steaks were exquisite. We also enjoyed empanadas for our appetizer, a fine pitcher of sangria, and an apple crepe for dessert. We then met up with
Henry at a bar called
Great Lakes, where our buddy
Ray was tending bar.
I spent all of Monday (Martin Luther King Day) with Bill 2. We went out to lunch at
Two Boots (pictured on the right), a funky Park Slope restaurant where "po' boys meet pizza pies" (the "two boots" represent the shapes of Louisiana and Italy). I especially enjoy Two Boots during the summer: potent margaritas, live music and an outdoor deck. I had forgotten that
Russell worked there -- you may remember him from my
journal entry from September 13. He looked great, but we conveniently avoided eye contact with each other. Sigh...
Yet, I digress. After our meal, Bill and I wandered around and then came back to my place, snuggled on the couch and watched a couple movies, including
Trick, which was just so cute -- as were the lead actors,
Christian Campbell (Neve's beautiful older brother) and
J.P. Pitoc. (Thanks,
Ken, for lending it to me.)
Sunday, I laid low and then met up with
the Posse to play mahjongg at Henry's. Afterwards,
Heather and I visited two watering holes on Smith Street:
Roxy, the neighborhood's newest, and
Boat, which is always filled with cute (albeit straight) boys.
Saturday was a blast:
the Posse met up to help
Heather and Derek move to their new place, which is only three houses down from their old place! We were done around 4 PM and then invaded this pizza place in Carroll Gardens. I went to Henry's fabulous loft for a couple of hours afterwards (to dance off the pizza), and then it was off to
Ken's for a barbecue -- where we finished off something like 6 bottles of wine.
On Friday the 12th,
Bill 2 and I went to see
State and Main and had dinner at this organic pizza place in the East Village. The date went pretty well, although it came out that he had spent the night before with his ex. Grrr.
Oh, oh, oh! I had such a fun time on Thursday night. I spent the evening with the as-adorable-as-ever
Bill 1 at
Excelsior, where
Derek and Ken paid a surprise visit.
Alex and
Henry later joined us, with his friend, Steve, from out of town and his two friends. The nine of us took over all the tables in the front of the place. It felt very Last Supper. I got pleasantly sloshed on
Tanqueray and tonics, and called it a night at around 2.
