Back into Acting?

I realized about a month ago that I want to get back into acting. (I did a lot of community theater until I was about 15.)

Well, I'm really excited, because I've just signed up for my first batch of classes!

From May through July, I'll be in Acting 101 at NYU. I'm really looking forward to this! Can anybody recommend a good headshot photographer? :-)

Stayed in all weekend, which was fine with me. I've been so tired all week, because getting back to working out after a week and a half off is really draining. We also had to do some major cleaning of the apartment. Yesterday, this couple who are doing research for NBC Primetime came over and interviewed us. We got a sweet cash honorarium. It was cool, and they were really nice. They LOVED the Buffy room! They even took pictures. (To show NBC??) :-)

Back to L.A.!

So I'm all set to go back to California... Hollywood, here I come! Danny Strong (formerly Jonathan on "Buffy", now Doyle on "Gilmore Girls") is hosting a John Kerry fundraiser (featuring the musical stylings of alterna-folk greats, Common Rotation). I'm taking Kim and David with me and staying in Hollywood. Seeing that neither of them have been out there, it should be an unforgettable trip.

R.I.P. Carmen Paris

I got home Saturday morning. As expected my grandmother past away. The viewing was Thursday, and the funeral was Friday. Although it was incredibly sad, the whole family got a chance to reconnect, which is what Grandma would've wanted. It was a wonderful experience seeing my cousins again, especially Cindy, Joy, Crystal, Jacqui, Danielle, Suzette… There are too many to mention—almost 30 in fact!

Anyway, I really loved being in California after so long. I stayed in Torrance mostly, with brief stays in Montebello and La Verne. I'm planning on going much more frequently. I'd love to be "bicoastal" one of these days.

Spent Saturday night with my parents (they're going back to the Philippines today!) and have been catching up with David and sleep these past two days.

I'm off to L.A. for a week. However, it's not for fun and sunshine. My father's entire family… he's got nine brothers and sisters… lives in southern California. My grandmother is very ill, and the doctors don't give her much more time to live. Since my parents are moving to the Philippines in a couple of months, this may be the last time he sees her. Ever.

Quite sad, but bittersweet as well. I haven't kept in touch with any of my cousins, so this whole last-minute-trip thing has brought some of us back together. I'm personally looking forward to seeing my cousin, Cindy, and her four year old. I haven't even met her yet, since my last time in L.A. was seven years ago.

Unfortunately, I'm gonna miss Saturday's Common Rotation concert. But they'll be in Hollywood on Wednesday night, so hopefully I can catch them there. Hey, that would mean I made their first AND last shows of this tour. Cool.

… after just four freakin' episodes. Those bastards! They've even erased all records of the show from their website already. This quirky one-hour comedy was not only one of the most critically lauded show of the year, but the first show I've been interested in in a long time. Caroline Dhavernas… we hardly knew you. Grr arrgh.
