Amazon.com is the best. I order the Samsung LN-T4665F (their 2007-model LCD 46" 1080p HDTV), and it came today! The TV itself is breathtaking. After calibrating it using settings from AVSForum.com, I watched Planet Earth and Superman Returns on HD-DVD. This TV's quality is simply jaw-dropping. Can one be in love with a gadget?
UPDATE: I popped in The Incredibles on DVD. The upscaling quality was impressive, but there were some "HDMI handshaking" issues. Once, I got a green-blotchy screen, which lasted for maybe a tenth of a second. But then, at around 9 minutes in, I got a screen of white static and white noise. A power-cycle of the TV fixed that, but still, grrr. Judging from chatter on the message boards, Samsung is good with both firmware and hardware updates, so hopefully this issue will be addressed soon.
